The 2014 Loyalty and Gamification World Championships are a Global Competition for Professionals and Students to test and develop their skills and understanding of Loyalty Marketing and Gamification. Mastering these two disciplines has become increasingly important for any company or organization wanting to motivate and drive user engagement among customers, employees and their relevant communities.

Competitors individually work through a variety of interactive Multiple Choice Questions drawing on Case Studies, theoretical concepts and real world challenges. Rounds 1 & 2 were be held simultaneously around the world and conducted online over a 2-hour period.

Insights and Inspiration at the University of Waterloo’s Gamification 2013

There will be something for everyone looking at using game elements to increase employee participation, student and workplace health, learning outcomes, citizen engagement, research participation, and more. Here are just some of the results being presented from research and case studies that are uncovering best practices and nuances in game design and applications:

“The Motivational GPS” session draws from neuroscience, paleoanthropology, development psychology, behavioral economics and sociology research to refine our understanding of motivation from rudimentary to the targeted capability of a GPS system

“I want to be a Captain!” Gamification in the Old Weather Science Project found that what appealed to committed participants turned off casual users. In this session the presenters look at how to refine gamification designs to appeal to different types of participant groups to maintain engagement with each.

Gamification and On-the-Job Behaviour across 4 Countries – a study over 2 years in planning and involving hundreds of participants extends a common gamification system to a CRM system. See how a customized experience impacts engagement and business outcomes.
